Solstudio Textile Group together with the
Russian Union of Entrepreneurs of Textile and Light Industry (SOUZLEGPROM) announce the holding of the Second Professional Competition for young textile designers
TEXTILE DESIGN TALENTS.
Due to the fact that the previous competition went beyond the framework of Russia, this year the organizers decided to make the competition international.
The competition will be held with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, the Russian Union of Entrepreneurs of Textile and Light Industry, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Fashion Factory School, the organizers of the Russian Textile Week and the international exhibition Interfabric.
Textile design is the heart and one of the main engines of light industry. The Textile Design Talents competition aims to support talented textile designers, draw the attention of professionals from all industries to them and create conditions for better use and development of their outstanding abilities in the industry.
Contest declares a broad understanding of textile design, combining this concept with surface design: from creating patterns for fabrics and clothes to a pattern used in the interior, accessories, shoes and any other surfaces associated with the main directions of fashion and light industry.
This year the competition traditionally gathered a strong international jury:
Alessandro Colombo, Director of the direction of women’s and men’s collections of Ratti;
Elsa May, fashion department Première Vision;
Izabel Wharton, editor of print & graphics WGSN;
David Shah, founder of the international magazine Textile View;
Giovanni Ottonello, art director of IED Istituto Europeo di Design, as well as leading Russian experts in the field of textile design:
Alena Akhmadullina, founder of the eponymous brand;
Andrey Razbrodin, President of the Russian Union of Entrepreneurs of Textile and Light Industry;
Alexandra Kaloshina, founder of Solstudio Textile Group;
Irina Rybaulina, head of the “Art of Textiles and Ornaments” department of RSU named after A.N. Kosygin.
Reception of works will be conducted from November 15, 2018 to February 17, 2019.
March 1, 2019 finalists will be announced.
March 19, 2019, in the framework of the opening of the “
Russian Textile Week” at the Expocentre Fairgrounds, a solemn award ceremony will be held.
The
main prize for the winner is a fully paid internship in the design department of the world’s leading textile factory
Ratti S.p.A. – Marzotto Group (Como, Italy).
The prize for the
second place is a certificate with a nominal value of 50,000 rubles from the Fashion Factory School business school for any course of study.
The
third place is a digital print on the fabric of the participant’s prints collection, consisting of 10 drawings of the participant’s choice, at the Solstudio Industry factory.
Special nominations:

Alena Akhmadullina – internship in the company of the brand Alena Ahmadullina;

Solstudio Textile Design – internship in the studio;
– from
Epson – an Epson L1800 photo printer and a T-shirt print with a winning design in this nomination.
A special nomination from the company Pantone “Pantone Best Use of Color” with a prize – a new version of the pantone FHI Metallic Shimmers Color Guide.
Also, the winners and finalists of the competition will receive commemorative diplomas, color reference books of Pantone and design books from the Association of Specialists of Product Design and the PH “DELO”.
